Eau Claire, Wisconsin

The physical therapy comes to the room you are already in.

Jennifer Kirby, PT, DPT is a mobile physical therapist. She drives to your house, works on your own floor with your own furniture, and leaves. There is no clinic to get to and no waiting room to sit in.

The practice in four numbers

A solo practice, run the way a house call has to be run.

Jennifer Kirby has been a licensed physical therapist since 2008 and holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University. She is a Certified KT Tape Practitioner and a Certified Master of Dry Needling. She is also the only person who will ever knock on your door, because there is nobody else on the roster.

In their own words

Nobody describes this practice without naming a room.

These are patients of Jennifer's, published on her own site. Read what they reach for when they try to explain what the appointment was like. It is never a treatment room. It is a couch, a desk, a place.

This is such a genius way to have physical therapy! She comes right to my home to do our work. I could see this being very helpful for the busy person or elderly that has difficulty getting to an office. She can use things I have around the house for treatment and also look at how I sit on the couch, at my desk etc... Jen is very personable and does a great job with manual therapies as well as exercises, taping and whatever else I need.

Kirby Physical Therapy is mobile and visits me at home. This has been very convenient to get my much needed physical therapy treatments. Jennifer is very knowledgeable and professional. We do a combination of stretches and massage in the comfort of my home. Talk about immediate pain relief! If you are busy and want to feel better, Kirby Physical Therapy is the best!

Jennifer is so great and very flexible! She has come to my place twice when I have been in need of help. I always feel much better when she is done.

What Jennifer treats with

Seven treatments, all of them portable.

Every one of these travels in a car and works in a living room. That is not a compromise on the technique, it is the reason the practice is built this way.

Where the work actually happens

Your equipment is already in the room.

Kirby Physical Therapy only uses state of the art equipment, and it arrives in the car. Everything else in the session is furniture you already own, at the heights you already live at.

A living room window wall with a bare stretch of floor and afternoon light

Balance and posture

The window wall

Standing balance is tested against the thing you actually stand near. A wall, a counter edge, a window ledge at your own height, all of it is a hand-hold you already know where to find in the dark.

A cleared stretch of living room floor with a rug and a threshold strip

Gait and functional mobility

The clear stretch of floor

Walking gets assessed on your own rug, over your own threshold strip, in the shoes you actually wear indoors. A gym corridor tells you how someone walks in a gym corridor.

A low coffee table set in an ordinary living room

Therapeutic activities

The coffee table

Transfers are a named part of the work, chair to bed, lying to sitting. Practising them against furniture at your own heights is the real task. A padded box set to a standard height is a rehearsal of somebody else's house.

An ordinary living room couch and low table with afternoon light across the floor

Manual therapy

The seat you always take

One patient wrote that Jennifer looks at how she sits on the couch and at her desk. Posture is not an abstraction when the chair that caused it is three feet away and can be adjusted on the spot.

A close view of a jute rug on a living room floor

Dry needling and manual work

The rug by the couch

Trigger point and soft-tissue work happens on a mat rolled out on the same rug, not on a treatment table three towns away. The floor you kneel on is your own.

A sunlit patch of floor in an ordinary living room

Home exercise carryover

The spot with the good light

The exercises Jennifer leaves behind get practised in the same patch of floor she used, at the same time of day, so the home program is a continuation of the visit, not a photocopy of a stranger's routine.

Who knocks on the door

Jennifer Kirby, PT, DPT.

She came to physical therapy through a sports injury she picked up in high school. She has been licensed since 2008, holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University, and runs this practice as a female owned and operated business that puts the health of its patients first.

The stated values are integrity, teamwork, excellence, compassion and adaptability. Adaptability is the one you will actually notice, because the room changes at every single appointment.

More about Jennifer

Before you call

The questions people ask first.

No. Wisconsin state regulations allow self-referral for therapy services, so you do not need a physician's order or referral to start. Call and talk through your symptoms and what you are trying to get back to doing.

In your home. Kirby Physical Therapy is a mobile practice with no clinic, so Jennifer comes to your door to evaluate and treat, anywhere within a 30-minute radius of Eau Claire.

An evaluation. Jennifer asks about your condition, your previous level of function, and how the problem is affecting the way you live day to day. That is what a treatment plan gets built from, so it is worth being specific about the things you have stopped doing.

Jennifer Kirby, every time. She has been a licensed physical therapist since 2008, holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University, and is both a Certified KT Tape Practitioner and a Certified Master of Dry Needling. This is a solo practice, so there is no rotating roster.

Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Saturdays are by appointment only and Sundays are closed. The late afternoon and evening window is there so a home visit does not have to cost you a work day.

Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, cash, or check. FSA and HSA cards are accepted as well.

Yes. Growing athletes get injuries adults do not, including Sever's disease in the heel, Osgood-Schlatter at the knee, little league shoulder and elbow, and stress fractures of the lower spine. There is a page on those, and treatment happens at home the same way.

Two, and neither expires. Refer a friend and when they schedule an appointment you both get 10% off your next session. Veterans receive 15% off all physical therapy sessions.
