Treatment
Strength, endurance, flexibility, stability and balance, rebuilt on purpose. The stated goal is to return an injured patient to a fully functional lifestyle.
A home program only works if you actually do it, and people do the things that are easy to start. An exercise prescribed against your own stairs, your own doorway or your own kitchen counter gets done, because the equipment for it is already where you live. One built around a piece of clinic equipment you do not own tends to get skipped the first busy week, and a skipped exercise does not build strength. Jennifer Kirby, PT, DPT builds and progresses your exercise plan in your own home, anywhere within 30 minutes of Eau Claire. Call (715) 450-5001. Tissue gets stronger by being asked to do slightly more than it is currently comfortable doing, then given time to adapt, then asked to do a little more again. That is the whole idea behind progressive loading, and it is why the same movement you started with in week one rarely looks the same by week four. A rep count goes up, a range gets deeper, a hold gets longer, or an unstable surface replaces a stable one. None of that is arbitrary difficulty for its own sake. The opposite mistake is just as common: loading too fast, before the tissue has actually adapted, which is how a program stalls out or a flare-up sends you backward. Jennifer checks in on what has been working and what has not at the start of most visits precisely so the next step is sized to where you actually are, not to where a printed sheet assumed you would be by now. Nobody comes to physical therapy because they want to get better at a clamshell or a wall sit. They come because they want to carry groceries in from the car, get down on the floor to play with a grandkid, or make it through a work shift without their back seizing up by the afternoon. Therapeutic exercise is the training that gets a body capable of that task again, and the exercises themselves are the means, never the goal. A mobile physical therapy practice in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Jennifer Kirby, PT, DPT drives to you and treats you in your own home, so there is no clinic to get to and no waiting room to sit in.
